Job Overview
Golden Home Caregivers Corporation is hiring a Patient Care Aide to provide respectful, hands-on personal support and comfort care for clients in their homes and at various care locations across Calgary. This role is ideal for a caring professional who can work confidently in a fast-paced home care setting, follow care plans closely, and communicate clearly with clients, families, and the care team. You will assist with personal hygiene, mobility, basic vital signs, exercise routines, safe transfers, recreational outings, and other client-centered tasks that support independence and quality of life. Education
- College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
- Or equivalent experience
Experience
- 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant experience in home care, supportive living, long-term care, hospital support, or personal care assistance

- Home care and visiting care agency
- Various locations
- Work in employer’s/client’s home (client-based assignments across Calgary)
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Provide personal care and comfort support according to the client’s care plan and daily routines
- Bathe, dress, and groom patients while maintaining dignity, privacy, and safety
- Take patients’ blood pressure, temperature, and pulse and record/report findings as required
- Weigh, lift, turn, and position patients using safe techniques and appropriate equipment where available
- Supervise patients’ exercise routines and support mobility activities as directed
- Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities when appropriate and safe
- Transport patients in a wheelchair or on a stretcher when required
- Transport patients between care facilities or appointments as assigned, following safety procedures
- Collect specimens as instructed and follow handling/transport guidelines
- Administer first aid in emergency situations and follow agency reporting procedures
- Perform other duties related to patient care, comfort, and personal care as required
- Observe and report changes in client condition, mood, appetite, mobility, or overall well-being to the appropriate supervisor or healthcare professional
- Maintain a respectful, supportive approach and encourage independence where possible
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Fast-paced environment with changing schedules and client needs
- Work under pressure, including time-sensitive tasks and on-call assignments
- Repetitive tasks and physically demanding duties
- Manual dexterity and strong attention to detail required for safe personal care and monitoring
- Ability to distinguish between colours (important for documentation, skin observation, and safety cues)
- Combination of sitting, standing, and walking; standing for extended periods
- Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling
- Weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

- Team-oriented mindset and willingness to coordinate with supervisors and other care providers
Additional Assets (Preferred)
- Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain/renew)
- Experience taking vital signs and supporting mobility/transfers safely
- Familiarity with care documentation, incident reporting, and client care plans
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation may be an asset depending on assignments
