Job Overview
Central Protection Services is hiring Security Guards to support safe, orderly operations for assigned sites in Fort McMurray. This role is ideal for a dependable professional with strong judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. You will patrol assigned areas, monitor surveillance and control room systems, enforce regulations, assist clients and guests including those with special needs, and respond appropriately to incidents such as conflicts, theft, or safety concerns. This position may involve retail loss prevention, access control, security checks, and handling or transporting cash/valuables as required. Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience
- 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant security experience (patrol, retail loss prevention, control room, event security, or similar)
Credentials (Required)
- Security Guard License
- Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles)
- Valid driverβs licence required
Experience and Specialization (Assets)
- Audio-video surveillance experience
- Familiarity with security systems/alarms consulting (residential)
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Patrol assigned areas to deter unsafe activity, theft, trespassing, and property damage
- Operate security control room equipment and monitor cameras, alarms, and access systems as assigned
- Enforce regulations to maintain order, resolve conflicts, and monitor establishment activities
- Check age identification of patrons where required and enforce entry/age policies professionally
- Assist clients/guests with special needs and provide helpful, respectful direction when required
- Perform security checks of passengers and luggage where required by site procedures
- Prevent and detect shoplifting and theft in retail establishments; document incidents and support appropriate response
- Pick up and deliver cash and valuables when assigned, following strict chain-of-custody and safety procedures
- Respond to incidents, disturbances, alarms, and emergencies; notify supervisors and emergency services when required
- Write clear, accurate incident reports and maintain daily logs of patrols, observations, and actions taken
- Communicate effectively with site management, team members, and the public to support safe operations
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Combination of sitting, standing, and walking depending on assignment
- Standing for extended periods and regular walking/patrols
- Strong attention to detail required for surveillance monitoring, ID checks, and incident documentation
- Ability to remain alert during long shifts and respond quickly and appropriately to changing situations
