Job Overview
Erritt Construction Ltd is seeking a results-driven Civil Engineer to support and lead municipal and heavy civil construction projects across rural Ontario and surrounding areas. This role blends design review, field engineering, construction supervision, and technical reporting, with a strong focus on underground infrastructure such as pipelines, sewers, storm drainage, water control systems, and tunnelling/underground works. You will conduct site visits, analyze survey and field data, develop specifications and procedures, ensure compliance with building codes and regulations, and manage schedules, materials, and multidisciplinary teams. Languages: English

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 2 years to less than 3 years of relevant civil engineering experience (design, operations, project management, or construction engineering)
  • Experience supporting municipal servicing, underground utilities, and/or sewage treatment infrastructure is a strong asset

Work Site Environment

  • Outdoors
  • Noisy, dusty, wet/damp conditions
  • Potentially dangerous construction environments requiring strict safety compliance

Work Setting

  • Construction company, private sector
  • Rural area (travel to project sites required based on job assignments)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Act as project or site supervisor for land survey and construction work, coordinating field activities and deliverables
  • Conduct site visits to gather relevant information, confirm site conditions, and support constructability planning
  • Conduct technical analyses of survey and field data for development of topographic, soil, hydrological, and other engineering information; prepare clear technical reports
  • Develop construction specifications and procedures that support safe, efficient, and compliant execution
  • Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes, standards, contract requirements, and applicable regulations
  • Establish and monitor construction work schedules; support planning, sequencing, and progress tracking
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials based on performance requirements, site conditions, and cost considerations
  • Interpret, review, and approve survey and civil design work, ensuring accuracy and alignment with field conditions
  • Supervise technicians, technologists, contractors, and other engineers; review and approve designs, calculations, and cost estimates
  • Coordinate with contractors and internal teams to manage changes, resolve technical issues, and reduce project risk
  • Support quality control through inspection coordination, documentation, and verification of work against specifications
  • Assist with project reporting, cost awareness, and schedule updates for internal management review

Supervision

  • Supervise 16–20 people (may vary by project phase)
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors as required
