Responsibilities

• Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities.
• Assist with cleaning, sterilizing, and assembling medical equipment.
• Maintain and repair medical equipment as needed.
• Perform duties related to patient comfort and personal care.
• Supply and empty bedpans.
• Measure and record patients’ blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
• Serve meal trays and assist with feeding patients.
• Assist in weighing, lifting, turning, and positioning patients.
• Transport patients between facilities or within the care home using wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Supervise patients’ exercise routines.
• Administer suppositories, colonic irrigations, and enemas.
• Collect and deliver specimens or requisitions between departments.
• Maintain patients’ rooms, make beds, and manage inventory of supplies.
• Respond to call signals and address patients’ needs.

Requirements

• Languages: English
• Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1-2 years.
• Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.

Work Setting

• Nursing home or home for the aged.

Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses:First Aid Certificate

• CPR Certificate
• Health Care Aide Certificate
