Job Overview
Red Earth Inn is seeking reliable and hard-working Light Duty Cleaners to join our housekeeping team in Red Earth Creek, Alberta. As a key part of our guest experience, you will be responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and comfortable rooms and common areas throughout the hotel. This is a great opportunity for candidates who take pride in detailed cleaning, enjoy working independently, and want a stable, full-time role in a friendly, small-community hotel environment in northern Alberta.

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in commercial cleaning, hotel housekeeping, or a similar role
  • Experience in a hotel, motel, or resort environment is an asset

Work Site Environment

  • Non-smoking work environment
  • Hotel/motel/resort setting with guest rooms, corridors, and public areas

Work Setting

  • Red Earth Inn, Red Earth Creek, AB (remote northern community)
  • Housekeeping and cleaning responsibilities in guest rooms and throughout the property
  • Team-based environment with periods of independent work

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors in guest rooms, corridors, and common areas
  • Dust furniture, fixtures, and surfaces, ensuring neat and clean presentation
  • Vacuum carpeting, area rugs, draperies, and upholstered furniture using appropriate equipment
  • Make beds, change sheets, and ensure bedding is fresh, clean, and properly arranged
  • Distribute clean towels, toiletries, and other room amenities as per hotel standards
  • Stock and organize the linen closet and housekeeping carts, ensuring adequate supplies for daily operations
  • Clean, disinfect, and polish kitchenettes (if applicable), bathrooms, and bathroom fixtures, including sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, switches, railings, and elevator buttons
  • Wash windows, walls, ceilings, mirrors, and glass surfaces as assigned
  • Pick up debris, empty trash containers, and replace garbage bags in guest rooms and common areas
  • Launder clothing and household linens (if required by hotel operations) and ensure proper folding and storage
  • Mend clothing and linens for minor repairs (e.g., buttons, small tears) if requested
  • Perform general light housekeeping and cleaning duties as directed by the supervisor or manager
  • Shop for food and household supplies when required for staff/guest areas, following established procedures
  • Handle and report lost and found items according to hotel policy, ensuring items are documented and stored securely
  • Attend to guests’ requests for extra supplies or other items promptly and courteously
  • Provide basic information on hotel facilities, services, and local amenities to guests when asked
  • Address guests’ minor complaints or concerns politely and escalate issues to the supervisor or front desk when necessary
  • Follow all hotel safety and hygiene standards, including proper use of cleaning agents and equipment
