Job Overview
Laing Roofing Ltd. is hiring an experienced Roofing Technician to install, repair, and supervise roofing work across Kelowna and surrounding areas. This role is ideal for a highly skilled roofer who is comfortable working at heights, can read drawings and specifications, and consistently delivers safe, watertight roofing systems that meet quality standards. You will work on built-up roofing, single-ply membrane systems, metal roofing, and sloped-roof repairs, while also instructing apprentices and supervising other workers on site. Experience

5 years or more of professional roofing experience (commercial and/or industrial strongly preferred)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements and plan installation sequences
Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts, hot asphalt, and gravel
Install single-ply roofing systems using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric, or other asphaltic compositions
Install and repair metal roofs using hand and power tools
Install sheet metal flashings to ensure watertight transitions, edges, and penetrations
Repair roofing systems and perform troubleshooting to identify leaks, membrane failures, or structural concerns
Repair or replace shingles and shakes on sloped roofs of buildings when required
Cut materials using power tools or by hand to meet layout and detail requirements
Erect and install scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms safely and correctly
Assemble, erect, and install hoisting and rigging equipment as required for moving materials and equipment
Supervise other workers and coordinate daily tasks to maintain productivity, quality, and jobsite organization
Instruct apprentices and support training through clear guidance, demonstrations, and quality checks
Maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with site safety requirements and company procedures
