Job Overview
Bin 4 Burger Lounge is seeking a hands-on, organized, and service-driven Kitchen Manager to oversee back-of-house operations at our busy Langford location in the Greater Victoria area. You will lead a team of cooks and kitchen staff in producing our signature gourmet burgers and elevated comfort food, ensuring consistent quality, efficient execution, and strict food safety. This role is ideal for a kitchen professional ready to take on full management responsibility—balancing people leadership, cost control, scheduling, and day-to-day line work in a high-volume, guest-focused environment.

Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or
- Equivalent combination of education and related kitchen/restaurant experience
Experience
- 1 year to less than 2 years of supervisory experience in a commercial kitchen (e.g., lead line cook, sous chef, kitchen supervisor, or similar)
- Experience in a casual or upscale-casual, high-volume restaurant is a strong asset
- Familiarity with inventory control, scheduling, and basic kitchen costing is preferred

- Full-service restaurant specializing in gourmet burgers and contemporary comfort food
- Fast-paced kitchen environment with busy peak periods (evenings, weekends, holidays)
- Located in Langford within the Greater Victoria region, a growing, vibrant community on Vancouver Island
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Establish and implement methods to meet work schedules and ensure smooth, efficient kitchen operations across all shifts
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of staff who prepare and portion food, including line cooks, prep cooks, and dish staff
- Train new and existing staff in job duties, recipes, plating standards, sanitation practices, and safety procedures
- Ensure all menu items are prepared according to Bin 4 Burger Lounge recipes, presentation standards, and portion controls
- Estimate ingredient and supply requirements for meal preparation based on forecasts, reservations, and historical sales data
- Participate in inventory management by monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and reducing waste and spoilage
- Hire and help onboard food service and kitchen staff, in collaboration with senior management
- Prepare and contribute to kitchen budgets and cost estimates, including food cost targets and labour cost efficiency
- Monitor and ensure that food quality, taste, temperature, and plating meet company standards and guest expectations
- Enforce food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper storage, handling, labeling, and cleaning procedures
- Address customer complaints or concerns related to food quality, timing, or special dietary needs, working with the front-of-house team to find solutions
- Coordinate with front-of-house management to ensure smooth service flow, effective communication, and timely ticket execution
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen, including workstations, storage areas, coolers, and equipment
- Assist with hands-on cooking and line work during peak times, staff shortages, or special events
- Maintain accurate records related to inventory, waste, staff schedules, and other operational logs as required
- Support ongoing menu execution and occasional updates, ensuring staff are trained on new items or procedures
- Promote a positive, respectful work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment, especially during peak service times
- Standing and walking for extended periods throughout shifts
- Frequent lifting and carrying of items such as boxes of supplies, pots, and equipment (within reasonable restaurant limits)
- Exposure to heat, steam, cold storage, and kitchen noise
- Repetitive tasks such as chopping, stirring, plating, cleaning, and equipment handling
- Need to balance administrative duties (scheduling, ordering, paperwork) with hands-on kitchen work
