Job Overview
A warm and busy family in Beaumont, Alberta is seeking a caring, reliable Home Child Care Provider to support the daily care, safety, and development of their children in the family home. You will be responsible for routines, meals, personal care, school runs, and play activities, while helping to keep the environment tidy and organized. This position is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with infants and young children, is flexible with working hours, and is looking for a long-term, full-time childcare role with the possibility of overtime in Canada.

Experience
- 1 to less than 7 months of recent, hands-on childcare experience (e.g., nanny, babysitter, daycare helper, teacher’s assistant, or similar)
- Experience with infants and young children is an asset
Work Setting
- Employer’s private home in Beaumont, AB
- Care for children in a home-based environment, following the family’s routines, values, and house rules
- May accompany children to school, appointments, and local activities as required
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Supervise and care for children at all times while on duty, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being
- Change diapers as needed and maintain proper hygiene for infants and toddlers
- Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas, following parents’ instructions and hygiene standards
- Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children, supporting age-appropriate independence where possible
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks according to family preferences and any dietary restrictions
- Prepare infants and children for rest periods (naps, quiet time, bedtime) in line with established routines
- Take children to and from school, daycare, playgroups, extracurricular activities, and medical or other appointments, using walking, public transport, or other arrangements as agreed with the parents
- Instruct children in personal hygiene and self-care (e.g., handwashing, brushing teeth, toileting, dressing themselves)
- Help children develop social skills such as sharing, cooperation, manners, and respectful communication
- Organize and lead age-appropriate activities such as games, crafts, reading, homework support, and outdoor play or outings to parks and community spaces
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home by monitoring activities, identifying potential hazards, and encouraging safe behaviour
- Discipline children according to the methods and guidelines requested by the parents, using consistent and respectful approaches
- Tend to the emotional well-being of children by offering comfort, encouragement, and positive guidance, especially during transitions or moments of frustration
- Keep records of children’s daily activities and health information, such as meals, naps, activities, and any incidents, illnesses, or changes in behaviour, and share these with parents regularly
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to children, such as tidying toys, cleaning up after meals, and keeping play and study areas organized
- Assist with children’s laundry and basic organization of their clothing, school items, and personal belongings
- Communicate openly and regularly with parents about routines, progress, challenges, and any concerns

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Active role involving a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and playing with children throughout the day
- Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying infants, young children, and items such as diaper bags, strollers, and groceries
- Weight handling up to approximately 9–13.5 kg (20–30 lbs), depending on children’s age and size
- Need for sustained attention and quick response while supervising children
- Occasional emotionally demanding situations that require patience and calm, particularly during tantrums, sibling conflicts, or schedule changes
- Flexibility to work varying hours, including some evenings, weekends, on-call times, and overtime when needed

- Team player who collaborates with parents and maintains consistent routines and boundaries
- Strong time management skills to balance childcare duties, outings, and housekeeping tasks
- Patience and calm temperament, particularly when dealing with challenging behaviours or busy periods
- Honesty, integrity, and respect for family privacy, culture, and household rules
Additional Assets (Not Required but Preferred)
- CPR and First Aid certification for infants and children
- Previous experience in a live-in or live-out nanny or home childcare role
- Any childcare-related training or short courses (e.g., early childhood assistant, caregiver programs)
