Job Overview
SRR TRANSPORT is hiring experienced Long Haul Truck Drivers based out of Steinbach, Manitoba to haul freight on extended routes, including cross-border runs. This role is ideal for a safety-focused Class 1 driver who can manage long-distance schedules, maintain accurate logs and inspection reports, and represent the company professionally at shippers, receivers, and border crossings. You may operate as part of a two-person team or convoy when required, assist with loading/unloading, secure and tarp cargo, and respond calmly to route changes and roadside situations. If you have strong judgement, reliable work habits, and are comfortable traveling overnight and for extended periods, this is a stable, full-time opportunity with overtime and on-call availability.

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of long-haul trucking experience

Credentials (Required)

  • Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks)
  • Air Brakes Endorsement
  • Valid passport (required for cross-border travel)

Transportation / Travel Experience

  • Long-haul
  • Willing to travel cross-border
  • Willing to travel for extended periods
  • Willing to travel overnight

Documentation Knowledge

  • Driver logbook and hours-of-service records
  • Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
  • Special permits and required route documents for international/cross-border loads

Communication Systems Experience

  • Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently
  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy when assigned
  • Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
  • Load and unload goods when required and ensure freight is handled safely to prevent damage
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle condition
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment as applicable
  • Perform brake adjustments as required and within scope
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs when necessary and follow company breakdown procedures
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch and provide timely updates on delays, issues, and delivery progress
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption accurately
  • Tarp loads and ensure safety and security of cargo using proper securement methods

Security and Safety Requirements

  • Basic security clearance required
  • Driver’s validity licence check required
  • Driving record check (abstract) required
  • Strong commitment to compliance with safety procedures, traffic laws, and hours-of-service regulations

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Repetitive tasks and long periods of sitting while driving
  • Weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs), including tarping and load securement duties
  • Ability to work on-call and overtime as operational needs require
  • Ability to remain alert, calm, and professional in varying weather, traffic, and border conditions
