Job Overview
Fennell Family Clinic is seeking a Family Physician to provide comprehensive, patient-centred primary care in Hamilton, Ontario. This role is ideal for a physician who is confident managing a broad scope of family medicine, including acute care, chronic disease management, preventive health, counselling, and coordination of home care services. You will examine and diagnose patients, prescribe and administer treatments, provide emergency care when required, and support patients and families with wellness and lifestyle guidance. The position offers stable, long-term full-time work, morning/day scheduling, competitive hourly compensation, and LMIA sponsorship for eligible international candidates who meet Ontario licensing requirements.

Languages: English

Education

  • Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry (medicine required for family physician practice)
  • Or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant clinical experience in family medicine/primary care

Work Setting

  • Family practice clinic environment
  • Outpatient care with planned appointments and same-day/urgent needs depending on clinic workflow

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Examine patients’ health conditions to identify diseases and injuries and develop appropriate treatment plans
  • Provide acute care management and ongoing follow-up for common primary care conditions
  • Coordinate or manage primary patient care, including referrals, follow-ups, and continuity planning
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines and regulatory standards
  • Advise patients on health care, preventive screening, and self-management strategies
  • Help patients develop healthy habits, break old habits, and reshape their approach to wellness through counselling and education
  • Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
  • Provide emergency care when required and escalate appropriately
  • Perform and assist in routine surgery where applicable and within scope and clinic resources
  • Deliver babies and provide pre-natal and post-natal care where applicable and within scope and clinic resources
  • Supervise home care services when applicable and coordinate with community supports
  • Report births, deaths, contagious diseases, and other reportable conditions to government authorities as required
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and protect patient confidentiality
