Job Overview
Shaan Truck Lines is looking for professional, safety-minded Truck Drivers to join our growing fleet based in Georgetown, Ontario. You will operate late-model straight or articulated trucks on local, short-haul, and long-haul routes throughout Canada and the United States, including mountain regions. Experience

• Experience an asset; employer will train suitable candidates
• Any prior commercial driving experience (local, regional, or long-haul) is a strong advantage
• Mountain driving experience or willingness to learn and be trained in mountain operations is a plus

Work Setting / Route Type

• Based out of Georgetown, ON, servicing local GTA, regional, long-haul, and cross-border routes
• Mix of local, short-haul, and long-haul trips, including mountain regions and international (USA) routes
• Solo and team/convoy driving assignments depending on load and route requirements
• Extended time away from home, including overnights and multi-day or multi-week trips

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials safely and efficiently over local, regional, and long-distance routes
• Plan and/or adjust routes based on changing conditions using GPS and other navigation equipment, in coordination with dispatch
• Arrange travel-related itineraries, including rest stops, fuel stops, and overnight stays; make reservations where required in line with company policy
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy when assigned, coordinating closely with partner drivers
• Load and unload goods as required, ensuring proper weight distribution and correct use of equipment such as pallet jacks, dollies, and straps
• Tarp and securely fasten loads to ensure safety and security of cargo throughout transport
• Transport and handle dangerous goods in compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies (where assigned)
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international or specialized routes
• Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle systems and equipment (tires, lights, brakes, cold storage units, fluids, safety equipment) and oversee all aspects of vehicle condition
• Oversee condition of vehicle and equipment; perform brake adjustments and minor emergency roadside repairs when safe and appropriate
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks within driver scope (basic checks, topping up fluids, reporting defects promptly to maintenance)
• Receive and relay dispatch information, route changes, and instructions to and from central dispatch in a timely and professional manner
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption accurately in driver logbooks and/or electronic logging devices (ELDs)
• Pay and receive payments for goods where required, ensuring accurate documentation and receipts
• Address customers’ complaints or concerns respectfully and promptly, escalating issues to dispatch or management when necessary
• Demonstrate professionalism in customer service at all pick-up and delivery locations, representing Shaan Truck Lines positively
• Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques when requested, sharing best practices and supporting newer drivers
• Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial/state, and local transportation regulations, including Hours of Service and load securement rules

Credentials (Certificates, Licences, Memberships, Courses)

• Valid AZ class licence (or equivalent class as per provincial requirements)
• Valid driver’s licence suitable for cross-border, long-haul operations
• Air brake endorsement (if not included in licence class)
• Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification is an asset

Security and Safety

Transportation/Travel Information

• Must be able to drive manual transmission vehicles
• Valid driver’s licence and AZ licence required
• Travel expenses paid by employer in accordance with company policy (e.g., authorized fuel, tolls, and certain travel-related costs)
• Willing and able to travel cross-border (Canada/USA) and internationally as required
• Willing to travel for extended periods and work away from home for multiple days or weeks
• Willing to travel overnight regularly as part of long-haul operations

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Extended periods of sitting while driving, with frequent climbing in and out of the cab and trailer
• Handling heavy loads when assisting with loading/unloading, tarping, and securing cargo (within reasonable limits using proper technique and equipment)
• Physically demanding tasks at times (tarping, chaining, lifting gear, minor roadside tasks)
• Repetitive tasks associated with driving, inspections, and paperwork
• Large workload and tight schedules, especially during peak freight periods
• Need for sustained attention to detail when completing pre-trip inspections, documentation, and route planning
• Exposure to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, ice) during driving and at customer locations
