Job Overview
Civicon is seeking a reliable and hardworking Carpenter Helper to join our growing construction team in Bolton, Ontario. You will work directly alongside experienced carpenters on residential, commercial, and industrial projects, assisting with material handling, basic carpentry tasks, and site maintenance. This role is ideal for someone who already has some hands-on construction experience, wants to learn from skilled tradespeople, and is committed to building a long-term, well-paid career in Canadaβs construction industry.

- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience
- 7 months to less than 1 year of construction, carpentry helper, or general labour experience
- Experience on active construction sites is a strong asset
- Employer will provide on-the-job training to meet company standards
Work Setting
- Various construction sites in and around Bolton and the Greater Toronto Area
- Residential, commercial, and light industrial projects
- Indoor and outdoor work in all seasons and weather conditions
- Work under the direction of carpenters, site supervisors, and project managers
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to designated work areas
- Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt as directed
- Help set up and dismantle temporary structures, work areas, and equipment as required
- Perform routine maintenance work and basic repairs on tools and equipment as instructed
- Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants following safety procedures and under supervision
- Help tradespersons, apprentices, and other workers as directed, providing support where needed to keep work moving efficiently
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials under the guidance of a carpenter
- Assist with installation, maintenance, repair, and renovation of residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments
- Hold, brace, and position materials or components for fastening and installation
- Use hand and power tools (such as saws, drills, nailers, screwdrivers, and measuring tools) safely and correctly after training
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by removing debris, sweeping, and properly storing tools and materials
- Follow blueprints, layout lines, and instructions provided by carpenters and supervisors
- Adhere to all site safety rules and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Physically demanding role requiring strength and stamina
- Frequent handling and lifting of heavy loads (up to approximately 45 kg / 100 lbs)
- Repetitive tasks such as lifting, carrying, shovelling, and moving materials
- Standing, walking, and climbing (ladders, scaffolds, stairs) for extended periods
- Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching
- Exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, and varying temperatures (hot, cold, damp, windy)
- Fast-paced environment with project schedules, deadlines, and changing priorities
- Need to stay alert to site hazards such as moving equipment, heights, and overhead work
Tools and Equipment (Typical)
- Hand tools (hammers, measuring tapes, levels, chisels, screwdrivers)
- Power tools (drills, saws, nail guns, sanders) under supervision
- Concrete and asphalt tools (shovels, rakes, floats)
- Basic maintenance tools as required
Health and Safety Requirements (Assets)
- WHMIS, Working at Heights, or other construction safety certifications are strong assets (or willingness to obtain)
- Commitment to following all Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company policies
