Job Overview
New York Painting and Coating Ltd. is hiring a Construction Painters Supervisor to lead painting crews on active residential and commercial construction projects in Surrey and nearby areas. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who understands professional painting standards, can plan and coordinate work efficiently, and can keep job sites safe, organized, and on schedule. You will supervise painters and decorators, coordinate daily activities, read drawings and blueprints, estimate materials and labour needs, and support apprenticeship development and training. Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Or equivalent experience
Experience
- 3 years to less than 5 years of relevant painting experience, including leadership, foreperson, or supervisory responsibilities
- Experience supervising crews on construction sites and coordinating multiple work areas is an asset
Work Setting
- Construction environments with time-sensitive schedules and coordination with other trades
- Interior and exterior painting work depending on project phase
- Early start times and daily productivity targets
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Supervise workers and projects to ensure quality standards, productivity, and deadlines are met
- Co-ordinate and schedule activities for painters and decorators across job areas and project phases
- Lead and instruct individuals, assigning tasks and ensuring work methods meet company standards
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings to plan painting scope, sequencing, and site coordination
- Estimate costs and materials, including paint quantities, prep materials, and consumables
- Requisition or order materials, equipment, and supplies; track usage and reduce waste
- Ensure health and safety regulations are followed, including safe work practices, PPE use, and site rules
- Oversee apprenticeship training and support skill development through coaching and on-the-job guidance
- Train or arrange for training for new hires and existing crew members on techniques, standards, and safety
- Conduct regular quality checks, identify deficiencies, and organize touch-ups or rework as needed
- Coordinate with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades to prevent conflicts and maintain workflow
- Maintain basic work records such as daily progress updates, crew hours, and material tracking
- Promote a clean, organized job site and ensure tools, equipment, and materials are stored safely
Supervision
- Supervise a crew of 5β10 people
- Working groups may include painters and decorators and apprentices
