Key responsibilities

• Load and unload goods
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Pay and receive payments for goods (as required)
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform emergency roadside repairs
• Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle readiness
• Perform preventive maintenance and coordinate required servicing
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption
• Tarp loads when required; ensure safety and security of cargo at all times

Required credentials

• Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
• Air Brake (Z) Endorsement

Documentation knowledge (you will use these regularly)

• Accident or incident reports
• Bill of lading
• Driver logbook
• Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
• Maintenance and repair reports
• Trip reports

Work conditions and physical capabilities

• Attention to detail and strong safety awareness
• Handling heavy loads and a large workload
• Physically demanding work
• Weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
