Job Overview
VENERICA MEATS INC is hiring an experienced Butcher (Retail or Wholesale) to support daily meat processing, cutting, and packaging operations in our Toronto butcher shop. This role is ideal for a skilled butcher who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict standards for quality, cleanliness, and food safety. You will clean and prepare meats, break down carcasses and quarters, produce standard and special customer-ordered cuts, debone, portion, weigh, and package products, and cut poultry into parts. If you take pride in precise cuts, strong knife skills, and reliable production under pressure, this is an excellent opportunity for permanent full-time employment with LMIA support available for eligible international candidates.

Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required

Experience

1 year to less than 2 years of relevant butchery experience (retail shop, wholesale cutting, meat processing, or similar)

Manual cutting utensils (knives and related tools)
Slicing machine

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

Clean meats to prepare for processing or cutting
Cut carcasses, sides, and quarters according to shop standards and production requirements
Cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of meat with consistent portioning and presentation
Prepare special cuts of meat ordered by customers, following exact instructions and specifications
Remove bones from meat using safe, efficient techniques to maintain yield and product quality
Weigh meats for sale accurately and support portion control and pricing procedures
Wrap and package prepared meats neatly, ensuring correct labeling and safe handling
Cut poultry into parts and prepare poultry products as needed
Maintain cleanliness of tools and work areas, following sanitation schedules and safe handling practices
Work efficiently under time targets while maintaining quality and minimizing waste
Communicate with team members to coordinate production flow and special orders
