North American Construction Group Now Hiring Heavy Duty Mechanic

Join North American Construction Group (NACG) as a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic (off-road) at our remote mining site in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Position Scope
- Site: Suncor Top Shop
- Schedule: 14×14 rotation, 12-hour shifts (paid for 11.5 hours), including days and nights.
- Accommodations: $15/hour Living Out Allowance (camp not provided).
- Transportation: complimentary bussing from Fort McMurray to the site before and after shifts.
- Overtime: Earn overtime after 8 hours/day or 44 hours/week.

Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and maintenance on CAT/Komatsu/Hitachi heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot systems, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical components.
- Conduct equipment inspections, performance evaluations, and preventive maintenance.
- Mobilize equipment for repair and develop repair scopes and schedules.
- Mentor apprentices and collaborate with peers in maintenance and operations teams.
- Maintain adherence to NACG’s Safe Operating Procedures and codes of practice.
Specific Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience post-Journeyman certification working on large haul trucks, dozers, graders, and excavators.
- Alberta Journeyman (Off-Road) Certificate or Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification required.
- Diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise.
- Ability to work independently with strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience on safety-sensitive sites and knowledge of Cat SIS systems is an asset.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Subject to pre-employment testing, including:
- Breath alcohol and urine drug tests.
- Fitness-to-work assessment.
- Audiometric and vision screening.
- Criminal record check.

Skills and Knowledge Required
- Advanced mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems expertise.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and interpreting schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and workplace regulations.
Education and Certification
- Journeyperson certification in Heavy Equipment Technology (Off-Road).
- Red Seal certification is preferred.
- Additional training in safety procedures and equipment diagnostics is beneficial.
