Job Overview
Chicken Little Farm Inc is looking for hardworking, dependable General Farm Labourers to support our mixed crop and poultry operation in St. Isidore, Ontario. You will work mainly with corn and other field crops, as well as in layer poultry barns, performing a variety of tasks such as weeding, cleaning, and harvesting. This is a physically active, outdoor job in all weather conditions, ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, want to gain Canadian farm experience, and appreciate the stability of on-site housing options. No prior farm experience is required; we will train motivated workers who are ready to learn and commit to the season.

Experience
- No previous farm experience required; employer will train
- Any background in farming, landscaping, construction, or other physical labour is an asset
Work Site Environment
- Corn farming
- Layer poultry farming
- Other miscellaneous crop farming
- Outdoors in all weather conditions (sun, rain, wind, cool mornings, hot afternoons)
- Dusty and dirty conditions typical of active fields and barns
- Work in and around livestock and poultry facilities
Work Setting
- Rural area near St. Isidore, ON
- Farm with crop fields, poultry barns, and associated facilities
- Room and board provided; on-site housing options available (details to be discussed with employer)
- Relocation costs not covered by employer; workers must arrange their own travel to the farm
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Perform weeding in crop fields and around farm buildings to support healthy plant growth and maintain tidy work areas
- Harvest crops such as corn and other field crops by hand and/or with equipment as trained
- Clean work areas including barns, yards, storage areas, and equipment zones to maintain a safe and organized environment
- Clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens, including removing manure, soiled bedding, and debris
- Assist with general barn duties, including basic poultry-related tasks such as monitoring egg gathering systems under supervision
- Use hand tools (e.g., hoes, rakes, shovels) safely and correctly for fieldwork and maintenance tasks
- Operate basic farm equipment such as farm trucks, loaders, tractors, and tillage equipment after receiving appropriate training and instructions
- Assist with the operation of automated systems (e.g., manure handling and storage, egg gathering systems) following farm procedures
- Follow instructions from supervisors and team leads regarding daily priorities and work methods
- Observe fields, crops, and animals for signs of issues (e.g., pests, disease, equipment problems) and report concerns to supervisors
- Help with general farm duties such as yard clean-up, moving supplies, and simple repairs as required

- Specialized environmental skills and knowledge, such as understanding basic farm safety, animal welfare, and environmental practices
Security and Safety
- Medical exam may be required as a condition of employment
- Criminal record check required or willingness to obtain before starting work
- Compliance with all farm safety, biosecurity, and hygiene procedures is mandatory
Transportation/Travel Information
- Valid driverβs licence required or strong asset (for operating farm vehicles and/or commuting)
- On-site free parking available for workers with their own vehicles
- Public transportation may not be available; ability to get to the farm reliably is essential
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Ability to work independently after training, following set routines and instructions
- Fast-paced environment during peak times (planting, harvest, barn clean-outs)
- Physically demanding role requiring good stamina and overall fitness
- Handling and lifting loads up to 23 kg (50 lbs), such as bags, crates, and tools
- Standing for extended periods, as well as walking long distances in fields and around the farm
- Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching while weeding, cleaning, or working with crops and equipment
- Combination of sitting (in vehicles or equipment), standing, and walking during the workday
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind
- Need for strong attention to detail when cleaning, harvesting, and following instructions
Own Tools/Equipment
- Steel-toed safety boots required (must be provided by worker)
- Other PPE or tools may be provided by the employer as per farm policy
