Job Overview
Hawk Constructions Inc is seeking a motivated and organized Construction Site Supervisor to oversee day-to-day activities on residential and commercial construction sites in and around Edmonton. You will supervise crews of 5–10 workers, coordinate subcontractors, manage schedules, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality specifications. This role is ideal for an experienced tradesperson or junior supervisor who understands construction sites, enjoys leading teams, and wants to grow into a long-term leadership career with a reputable builder.

Languages

  • English

Education

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or
  • Equivalent education and/or experience in construction or site supervision

Experience

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a supervisory, lead hand, or foreperson role on construction sites, or
  • Several years as a skilled construction worker with proven leadership responsibilities
  • Experience in residential and/or commercial building projects is an asset

Work Setting

  • Construction sites at various locations across Edmonton and nearby areas
  • Residential, commercial, and light industrial projects (new builds and renovations)
  • Site-based role requiring presence on active construction sites rather than in an office

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers and subcontractors on site, ensuring tasks are performed safely and efficiently
  • Lead and instruct individuals on work methods, site rules, safety practices, and quality expectations
  • Co-ordinate and schedule daily and weekly activities, including labour, subcontractors, equipment, and material deliveries
  • Prepare production and other site-related reports, including progress updates, daily logs, and incident reports as required by the company
  • Estimate costs and materials for specific tasks or small projects and provide input to project managers for budgeting and planning
  • Requisition or order materials, equipment, and supplies in a timely manner to prevent delays and minimize downtime
  • Recruit and hire workers in cooperation with management; participate in interviews and make recommendations on staffing
  • Carry out related staffing actions such as assigning tasks, approving timesheets, and recommending promotions, discipline, or other personnel actions
  • Train or arrange for training of new workers and apprentices, including job duties, safe work procedures, and company standards
  • Ensure that work performed meets building codes, project specifications, and quality control standards
  • Enforce compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company safety policies at all times
  • Identify potential hazards, conduct or participate in tool-box talks, and ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with project managers, engineers, clients, and inspectors regarding project status, issues, and requirements
  • Resolve work problems and site conflicts, adjusting schedules and methods as needed to keep projects on track
  • Monitor site cleanliness and organization, ensuring materials, tools, and waste are managed efficiently and safely
  • Support hands-on work when necessary to meet deadlines, assist crews, or demonstrate proper techniques

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

  • Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple priorities
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions typical of Edmonton (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind)
  • Physically demanding at times; must be able to walk the site, climb stairs and ladders, and occasionally lift moderate loads
  • Combination of standing, walking, and occasional sitting (for planning, paperwork) throughout the workday
  • Bending, crouching, and kneeling when inspecting work or assisting crews
  • Exposure to construction noise, dust, and typical site hazards (machinery, heights, uneven ground)
  • Need for strong attention to detail when reviewing work quality, safety compliance, and documentation

Additional Requirements / Assets

  • Knowledge of building codes, construction methods, and sequencing of trades
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation to reach various sites is a strong asset
  • Safety certifications such as WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Fall Protection, or Construction Safety Training are assets or may be required (or willingness to obtain)
