Job Overview
A private household in Ajax, Ontario is seeking a compassionate and dependable Home Support Worker to provide daily personal care, companionship, and household support for a client in their home. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, respectful, and attentive to dignity, privacy, and comfort. You will assist with hygiene routines, mobility and exercise, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and supportive companionship to help the client maintain a safe, healthy, and comfortable daily life. Optional live-in accommodation is available at no charge, and relocation costs are covered by the employer for candidates who are willing to relocate.

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

• 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in home care, personal support, caregiving, or a closely related role

Work Site Environment

• Non-smoking household

Work Setting

• Work in employer’s/client’s home in Ajax, ON
• Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis (live-in is optional, not required)
• Relocation costs covered by employer for eligible candidates

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Administer bedside and personal care with respect for privacy, comfort, and dignity
• Assist the client with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing as needed
• Provide personal care support aligned with the client’s preferences and established routines
• Feed the client or assist in feeding, ensuring safe, calm, and supportive mealtimes
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals, following dietary preferences and any instructions provided by the household
• Assist in regular exercise such as walking, encouraging safe mobility and daily activity as appropriate
• Provide companionship and supportive conversation to promote emotional well-being and reduce isolation
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to maintaining a safe, tidy living environment (e.g., tidying, dishes, laundry as needed, cleaning common areas)
• Observe changes in the client’s condition or mood and communicate concerns promptly to the family/employer as directed
• Maintain a respectful, professional approach to confidentiality in a private home setting

Security and Safety Requirements

• Criminal record check required
• Ability to follow household safety routines and safe care practices, including fall-prevention awareness and safe assistance with movement

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day
• Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling depending on care tasks and housekeeping needs
• Ability to assist with mobility and daily activities in a safe and controlled manner
• Consistent attention to detail for hygiene, meal routines, and home safety
