Education

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Equivalent education combined with relevant caregiving experience may be considered

Experience

• 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in caregiving or home support
• Experience providing personal care, companionship, and daily living assistance is an asset
• Previous experience working in a private home is beneficial
• Experience supporting seniors or individuals requiring daily assistance is beneficial
• Demonstrated reliability, patience, compassion, and professionalism

Credentials and Security Requirements

• Criminal record check required
• References from previous caregiving or related employment may be required
• First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
• Willingness to relocate to Ajax, Ontario

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

Personal Care and Hygiene

• Administer bedside and personal care while respecting the client’s dignity and privacy
• Provide personal care according to the client’s individual needs and comfort
• Assist with bathing and other personal hygiene routines
• Support dressing, grooming, and mobility as required
• Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the client

Nutrition and Meal Support

• Prepare and serve nutritious meals according to the client’s dietary needs and preferences
• Feed or assist with feeding when required
• Encourage healthy eating and adequate hydration
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and food preparation area

Exercise and Mobility Support

• Assist with regular exercise and walking activities appropriate to the client’s abilities
• Support safe movement within the home and during outings
• Encourage appropriate physical activity to promote independence and well-being
• Observe and report changes in the client’s condition, comfort, or mobility

Companionship and Emotional Support

• Provide friendly and respectful companionship
• Engage the client in conversation, hobbies, and enjoyable daily activities
• Offer patience, kindness, reassurance, and emotional support
• Develop a trusting and respectful relationship with the client and family

Light Housekeeping and Household Support

• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
• Keep the client’s living and care areas clean, organized, safe, and hygienic
• Assist with laundry, bed-making, and general household organization
• Follow household routines and preferences with care and discretion

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday
• Regular bending, crouching, and kneeling while assisting with personal care and household tasks
• Physical ability to assist clients safely with mobility and daily activities
• Ability to remain attentive and responsive throughout the shift
• Flexible schedule including morning and daytime hours
• Comfortable working independently in a private, non-smoking home environment
