Job Overview
Special T Swine Ltd is hiring Hog Farm Workers to support daily barn operations and animal care in Brussels, Ontario. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for dependable individuals who are comfortable working in a livestock environment and want long-term stability in Canadian agriculture. You will help with feeding and tending animals, cleaning and disinfecting barns and pens, and following strict bio-security procedures that protect herd health. If you are physically fit, reliable, and willing to work early mornings and weekends as required, we will provide training and a supportive team environment. Staff accommodation is provided for eligible workers.

Languages: English

Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required

Experience

• 1 to less than 7 months of relevant farm/livestock experience
• Newer workers with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply

Work Site Environment

• Hog and pig farming environment
• Dusty, noisy conditions with strong odours
• Wet/damp and dirty areas are common in barn operations

Work Setting

• Rural area in Brussels, ON
• Staff accommodation provided

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Feed and tend animals according to daily schedules and farm standards
• Handle animals safely and calmly, following low-stress handling practices and barn protocols
• Disinfect pens and barns to reduce disease risk and maintain a healthy environment
• Clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens, including removal of waste and maintaining sanitary conditions
• Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed at all times, including controlled movement between areas and hygiene routines
• Perform general farm duties as assigned to support smooth daily operations
• Report concerns such as sick or injured animals, unusual behaviour, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions to supervisors promptly
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and store tools/materials properly after use

Transportation/Travel Information

• Public transportation is not available
• Own transportation required

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Physically demanding work in a livestock barn environment
• Repetitive tasks requiring consistency and stamina
• Handling heavy loads as required (feed bags, equipment, and materials)
• Standing for extended periods and frequent walking throughout the facility
• Ability to work in environments with odours, noise, dust, and wet conditions
• Willingness to work early mornings and weekends based on animal care needs
