Job Overview
Medicentres is seeking a Family Physician to deliver comprehensive, patient-centred primary care in a clinic/private practice environment in Lethbridge, Alberta. This role is ideal for a physician who values continuity of care, evidence-based medicine, and strong communication with patients and families. You will manage acute and chronic conditions, provide preventive care and immunizations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, consult with other medical professionals, and provide counselling on wellness and lifestyle. You may also provide emergency care as needed within clinic scope. Experience is an asset, and LMIA sponsorship is available for eligible international candidates who meet Alberta licensing requirements.

Languages: English

Education

  • Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry (medicine required for family physician practice)

Experience

  • Experience is an asset (family medicine/primary care experience preferred)

Credentials (Required)

  • College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP)
  • Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities (must be eligible to practise in Alberta)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

Advertisement
  • Collect medical information from patients, family members, and other medical professionals to support accurate assessment and continuity of care
  • Examine patients’ health conditions to identify diseases and injuries and determine appropriate treatment plans
  • Provide acute care management and follow-up care for urgent and non-urgent presentations
  • Coordinate or manage primary patient care, including referrals, follow-ups, and care planning
  • Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures; interpret results and communicate next steps clearly
  • Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients’ physical and mental health and coordinate multidisciplinary care
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments according to clinical guidelines and regulatory standards
  • Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases and support preventive health programs
  • Advise patients on health care, screening, and self-management strategies
  • Help patients develop healthy habits, break old habits, and reshape their approach to wellness through counselling and education
  • Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
  • Provide emergency care when required within clinic scope and escalate appropriately
  • Report births, deaths, contagious diseases, and other reportable conditions to government authorities as required
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and protect patient confidentiality
