Job Overview
Dave Van Pelt Farms Inc. is hiring an experienced Farm Supervisor to oversee daily operations across beef cattle ranching (including feedlots) and grain farming in a rural Coaldale, Alberta setting. This role is ideal for a practical, safety-focused leader who can plan daily priorities, supervise crews, manage feeding and feed inventory, monitor and treat livestock health issues, and coordinate crop services such as plowing, irrigating, spraying, cultivating, and harvesting. You will lead a team of 5–10 workers, maintain accurate financial and production records, and ensure bio-security and farm safety procedures are consistently followed. Experience
- 3 years to less than 5 years of relevant experience in beef cattle/feedlot operations and/or crop/grain farming, including supervisory or lead-hand responsibilities

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Develop specific plans to prioritize daily and seasonal work and ensure timely completion of tasks
- Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers, assigning duties and monitoring performance
- Direct farm feed inventory activities, including tracking, organization, and timely replenishment
- Formulate feeding program and oversee feeding routines to support herd performance and animal welfare
- Handle animals safely and humanely and ensure staff follow safe handling procedures
- Monitor animal health daily, diagnose livestock health issues, and respond appropriately according to farm protocols
- Treat livestock health issues as directed and within farm standards; coordinate additional support when needed
- Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs and maintain accurate breeding and performance records
- Maintain livestock performance records, quality control records, and production records to support decision-making and reporting
- Maintain financial and production records and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date
- Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures
- Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed consistently by all staff
- Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying, and harvesting; oversee crop-related operations and scheduling
- Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations, adjusting priorities based on weather and field conditions
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment and coordinate inspections, routine servicing, and repairs
- Maintain work records and logs, including labour allocation, completed tasks, and operational notes
- Perform general farm duties and provide hands-on support during peak workload periods and emergencies
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Fast-paced environment with tight deadlines during planting, spraying, and harvest periods
- Work under pressure during livestock health events, feeding schedules, and weather-driven changes
- Physically demanding work with a large workload and extended time outdoors
- Combination of sitting, standing, and walking with frequent field and feedlot supervision
- Strong attention to detail required for animal health monitoring, feeding programs, safety compliance, and record keeping
