A private household in Markham, ON is seeking a caring and reliable Home Support Worker to assist an adult family member in their daily living. You will provide personal care, companionship, light housekeeping, and meal preparation in a non-smoking home environment. This role is ideal for someone patient, organized, and committed to helping clients live safely and comfortably at home. Flexible, respectful, and client-focused care is essential.

Requirements

• Language: English proficiency required
• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
• Experience: Experience is considered an asset (training may be provided for the right candidate)

Main Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Provide personal care to the client (e.g., assistance with hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting as required)
• Administer medications as directed by the employer and/or health professionals, following clear instructions
• Assist in regular exercise, such as walks or light mobility activities, as appropriate
• Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support
• Plan therapeutic diets and menus in line with health needs and family preferences
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks
• Shop for food and household supplies as requested
• Launder clothing and household linens; assist with basic organization of client’s personal items
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the client (e.g., tidying rooms, washing dishes, keeping living areas safe and clean)
• Observe and report any significant changes in the client’s condition, mood, or abilities to the employer/family
• Follow all safety, hygiene, and infection-control guidelines in the home

Credentials (Certificates, Licences, Memberships, Courses)

• CPR Certificate
• First Aid Certificate

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Ability to assist with mobility and some physical tasks
• Weight handling: up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
• Bending, lifting, and standing for portions of the workday
• Repetitive tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, and assisting with personal care
• Ability to work calmly and effectively in a private home environment
