Job Overview
Maxi is hiring a Grocery Clerk to support daily retail operations in Chibougamau, Québec. This role is ideal for a reliable, energetic team member who enjoys hands-on work, stays organized in a busy environment, and takes pride in keeping shelves stocked and the store looking its best. You will receive and unpack deliveries, price and stock products, assist customers in finding items, help prepare orders for shipment or delivery when required, and support general store organization and cleanliness. Experience is an asset, but we welcome motivated applicants who are ready to learn and grow in a stable, full-time retail position.

Languages: English or French

Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required

Experience

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

Unpack products received by store and count, weigh, or sort items
Use barcode scanning equipment to record incoming stock, verify pricing, and maintain computerized inventory
Price items using stamps or stickers according to the price list and store procedures
Stock shelves and display areas; rotate stock, maintain product presentation, and keep stock clean and in order
Attach protective devices to products to help prevent shoplifting, where required
Obtain articles for customers from shelves or stockroom and assist with product inquiries
Direct customers to the location of items sought and provide courteous service
Bag, box, or parcel purchases for customers at the store or for shipment and delivery
Carry customers’ purchases to the parking lot and help pack into vehicles when required
Label and document orders and prepare shipping, customs, and courier documentation when required
Enter, track, and process customer orders and generate inventory reports as assigned
May operate carts, dollies, forklifts, hand trucks, order pickers, and other powered industrial trucks (PIT) where trained and authorized
May operate a cash register and computer for electronic commerce transactions when required
May order stock or assist with replenishment and inventory counts
Maintain a clean and safe work area; may sweep aisles, dust display racks, and perform general cleaning duties

Standing and walking for extended periods
Repetitive tasks and frequent lifting/carrying of grocery items and stock
Fast-paced environment during peak hours and delivery days
Attention to detail required for pricing accuracy, product placement, and inventory scanning
Ability to work safely around equipment, carts, and busy aisles

Coordinating skills to manage stocking, order preparation, and customer support efficiently

Initiative to notice what needs restocking/cleaning and act without constant supervision
Responsible and trustworthy when handling inventory and store equipment
