Job Overview
The Tam family in Richmond Hill is seeking a caring, patient, and organized Nanny to provide daily in-home care for their children. You will support the children’s routines, learning, and emotional well-being while helping to keep the household running smoothly. From school runs and outings to meals, playtime, and light housekeeping, you will play an important role in the children’s growth and the family’s day-to-day life. This is an ideal position for someone who genuinely enjoys working with children of different ages and is looking for a stable, long-term nanny role in Canada.

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or
  • Equivalent education and/or experience in childcare

Experience

  • 7 months to less than 1 year of recent, hands-on experience in childcare (nanny, babysitter, daycare helper, teacher’s aide, or similar role)
  • Experience caring for more than one child at a time is a strong asset

Work Site Environment

Work Setting

  • Employer’s private home in Richmond Hill, ON
  • Supervision and care of a multi-aged group of children
  • You must be comfortable working in a family setting and following the parents’ routines, culture, and house rules

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Supervise and care for children at all times while on duty, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children, adapting to age-appropriate needs and routines
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for the children, considering any dietary preferences or restrictions
  • Prepare infants and children for rest periods (naps, quiet time, bedtime), following established routines
  • Take children to and from school, extracurricular activities, playdates, and appointments as needed (walking, public transit, or other arrangements as agreed)
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the children, such as tidying play areas, washing dishes after children’s meals, and keeping children’s rooms and belongings organized
  • Shop for food and household supplies as requested by the parents, following shopping lists and budget guidelines
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home by monitoring activities, identifying hazards, and encouraging safe behaviour
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene (e.g., handwashing, brushing teeth, dressing appropriately) and support them in developing good daily habits
  • Support children’s social development by encouraging respectful communication, sharing, cooperation, and positive behaviour
  • Organize and lead age-appropriate activities such as games, crafts, reading, outdoor play, and outings to nearby parks or community spaces
  • Tend to the emotional well-being of children by offering comfort, encouragement, and positive guidance, especially during transitions or challenges
  • Discipline children according to the methods and expectations set by the parents, using consistent, respectful approaches
  • Keep basic records of children’s daily activities and health information (e.g., meals, naps, activities, any incidents or changes in behaviour) to share with parents
  • Communicate regularly with parents about the children’s routines, progress, challenges, and any concerns or observations

  • Weight Handling:

  • Team player who communicates clearly and cooperates with parents to maintain consistency in routines and rules
  • Strong time management skills to balance childcare, activities, and related household tasks
  • Patience and calm temperament, especially during challenging behaviours, busy periods, or conflicts between children
  • Honesty and integrity, with respect for family privacy, cultural values, and household rules

Additional Assets (Not Required but Preferred)

  • CPR and First Aid certification for infants and children
  • Previous experience in a live-in or live-out nanny role
  • Any childcare-related courses or training (e.g., early childhood assistant, caregiver programs)
