Job Overview
BEAN SPROUT KING is hiring Field and Vegetable Crop Labourers to support crop production, harvesting, grading, and packing in Richmond, British Columbia. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on agricultural work and can maintain quality and speed in a fast-paced environment. You will work outdoors and in nursery/greenhouse areas to plant, cultivate, irrigate, and harvest crops, sort and pack produce for market, keep work areas clean, and support basic equipment operation when assigned. Experience is an asset, but we welcome reliable, safety-minded candidates who are quick learners and ready for stable, permanent full-time work with LMIA sponsorship available for eligible international applicants.

Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required

Experience

  • Experience is an asset (farm labour, greenhouse/nursery work, harvesting, packing, grading, or equipment operation)
  • On-the-job training provided for farm procedures and quality standards

Work Site Environment

  • Dry pea and bean farming
  • Other miscellaneous crop farming
  • Outdoors and confined spaces depending on task location
  • Wet/damp, hot, noisy conditions; some work may be in cold/refrigerated areas during handling/storage
  • Physically active work with varying conditions based on season and production stage

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops according to schedules and instructions
  • Apply fertilizers as directed and follow safe handling procedures
  • Dose and monitor water saturation, light, and temperature as instructed to support crop growth and development
  • Clean the crops and maintain growing areas to support plant health and product quality
  • Harvest seedlings and perform hand harvesting of vegetables and other crops as required
  • Harvest crops efficiently while minimizing damage and maintaining quality standards
  • Divide freshly harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots and report issues as needed
  • Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to size, shape, colour, and volume to meet market requirements
  • Pack fruits and vegetables carefully for storage, shipment, or sale, following quality and handling guidelines
  • Load, unload, and transfer crates, supplies, and farm produce safely and efficiently
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields and other work areas and keep worksites tidy
  • Clean work areas and support greenhouse cleaning tasks as assigned
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment as assigned; report mechanical concerns promptly
  • Detect disease and health problems in crops (and related production areas) and report concerns to supervisors
  • Examine product for quality and readiness for the market and follow instructions for sorting and handling

  • Fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks and a large workload
  • Work under pressure during peak harvest and packing periods
  • Physically demanding work with frequent standing and walking
  • Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • Handling heavy loads and weight handling up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs)
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail required for harvesting, sorting, and packing
