The Department

Our NWP farm is home to both a commercial and purebred cattle herd as well as a sheep flock. The farm provides support to Agricultural programing as well as providing research opportunities.

The Role

We are currently hiring two casual agricultural workers for our calving/lambing season January 2024 – to May 2024, working approximately 15 – 35 hours/week, due to the nature of the position shifts outside of normal business hours are required.

Our Agricultural Workers carry out general farm duties including:

• calving and lambing, care of the animals,
• feeding, watering & monitoring animals
• maintenance of facility,
• maintenance of equipment,
• field work,
• other duties as required.

Wage: $27.37/hour as per AUPE Collective Agreement

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will need the following experience and skills to be successful in this role:

• Calving experience and general farm duties (lambing experience not necessary)
• Feeding, watering & monitoring animals
• Comfortable working with large and smaller animals
• Ability to lift 25 kilograms
• Labor and maintenance experience
• Ability to work flexible schedules and independently
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work in unpredictable weather conditions
