Job Overview
Sumairah Syed is seeking a dependable Home Child Care Provider to deliver attentive, organized, and nurturing care for school-age children (6–12 years) in Markham, Ontario. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting children’s routines, helping them feel safe and confident, and maintaining a calm, respectful household environment. You will supervise daily activities, prepare nutritious meals, support emotional well-being, help with transportation to school and appointments, and complete light housekeeping related to childcare. The successful candidate is trustworthy, responsible, and able to manage the home confidently when parents are away.

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience

• Experience is an asset (childcare, babysitting, after-school care, camp counselling, tutoring, or related experience is beneficial)

Target Audience

• School age children (6–12 years)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Supervise and care for children, ensuring safety, structure, and positive daily routines
• Assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of parents, using good judgement and clear communication
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home, including safe supervision practices and basic home safety awareness
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, following household preferences and any dietary restrictions provided
• Tend to the emotional well-being of children by offering support, encouragement, and respectful boundaries
• Take children to and from school and to appointments as required, ensuring punctuality and safe transportation practices
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to daily childcare needs, such as:
  • Tidying play and living areas used by the children
  • Cleaning up after meals and snacks
  • Supporting basic household organization during childcare hours
• Communicate with parents about daily routines, activities, concerns, and any incidents, as required

Credentials (Required)

• CPR Certificate
• First Aid Certificate

Security and Safety Requirements

• Criminal record check required
• Strong commitment to child safety, supervision, and privacy in a family home setting

Additional Qualifications (Strong Assets)

• Experience supporting school-age children with homework routines, reading, and positive learning habits
• Ability to plan age-appropriate activities (indoor/outdoor) that encourage healthy development
• Calm approach to behaviour guidance and conflict resolution
• Valid driver’s licence and safe driving record (if driving is required; to be discussed with the employer)
