Job Overview
SE Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Health Care Aide to join our Ottawa team. This role is essential for providing patient care and support to those in need, contributing significantly to their comfort, safety, and well-being. As a Health Care Aide, you’ll play an active role in daily patient assistance, contributing to their quality of life and helping maintain a clean, safe, and caring environment.
Responsibilities
- Accompany patients on outdoor recreational activities
- Assist in cleaning, sterilizing, setting up, and assembling medical equipment
- Help with maintenance and repair of medical equipment
- Perform tasks related to patient care and comfort
- Supply and empty bedpans
- Serve meal trays and assist with patient feeding
- Weigh, lift, turn, and position patients
- Deliver messages, reports, requisitions, and specimens between departments
- Make beds and maintain patient rooms
- Supervise patient exercise routines
- Bathe, dress, and groom patients
- Transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher
- Administer first aid in emergency situations
Additional Information
- Security and Safety Checks: Criminal record check, immunization records, vulnerable sector check, tuberculosis test
- Transportation: Valid driver’s license and own transportation required
- Work Conditions:Repetitive tasks and physically demanding duties
- Manual dexterity, attention to detail
- Standing for extended periods; combination of sitting, standing, and walking
- Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and lifting (up to 23 kg / 50 lbs)
