• No previous farming experience required – complete training will be provided
• Agricultural, greenhouse, nursery, or farm labor experience considered an asset

Key Responsibilities
Crop Production and Care:
• Fertilize crops according to soil requirements and crop needs
• Spray crops with pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides following safety protocols
• Apply treatments to protect crops from pests, diseases, and weeds
• Monitor crop growth and development throughout growing season
• Irrigate fields and crops to ensure proper water management
• Perform cultivation activities including planting, weeding, and thinning
• Support crop rotation and soil management practices
• Harvest crops at optimal maturity and quality
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
• Operate farm machinery and equipment including tractors and implements
• Use sprayers, spreaders, and application equipment safely
• Drive trucks and utility vehicles for farm operations
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning and greasing
• Conduct pre-operation safety checks on machinery
• Report equipment malfunctions or needed repairs promptly
• Maintain equipment in good working condition
• Follow all safety procedures when operating machinery
Health and Quality Monitoring:
• Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock, and poultry
• Inspect plants for signs of pest damage, disease, or nutrient deficiencies
• Observe livestock and poultry for signs of illness or distress
• Monitor animal behavior and physical condition
• Report health concerns to farm manager or veterinarian immediately
• Assist with treatment and care of sick animals when directed
• Maintain biosecurity protocols to prevent disease spread
• Document health observations and treatments
Quality Control and Harvest:
• Examine products for quality and readiness for market
• Assess crops for proper maturity and harvest timing
• Grade and sort produce according to quality standards
• Handle products carefully to prevent damage
• Pack and prepare products for market or storage
• Ensure products meet food safety and quality requirements
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in harvest and packing areas
• Follow food safety protocols during all handling
Livestock and Poultry Care (if applicable):
• Feed and water animals according to schedules
• Clean barns, pens, and housing facilities
• Monitor animal welfare and comfort
• Assist with breeding, birthing, and animal husbandry tasks
• Handle animals calmly and safely
• Maintain clean, sanitary conditions for livestock health
• Support veterinary care and treatments
General Farm Duties:
• Perform various agricultural tasks as assigned by farm manager
• Maintain farm facilities including fences, buildings, and infrastructure
• Assist with seasonal activities throughout the year
• Load and unload supplies, feed, and materials
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
• Participate in farm maintenance and improvement projects
• Support all aspects of farm operations as needed
• Work flexible hours during peak seasons
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions including rain, sun, heat, and cold
• Physically demanding agricultural labor requiring strength and stamina
• Standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying throughout shift
• Lifting and handling heavy loads up to 50 lbs regularly
• Repetitive tasks including planting, harvesting, and equipment operation
• Working with agricultural chemicals and following safety protocols
• Early morning starts and potential for long hours during peak seasons
• Weekend and holiday work may be required based on farm needs
• Exposure to dust, dirt, pollen, and agricultural odors
• Working with livestock and poultry when applicable
• Operating machinery and equipment in various conditions
• Tolerance for outdoor work year-round in BC coastal climate
