Job Overview
Hollandale Farms Ltd is a large, well-established vegetable farm in rural King, Ontario, specializing in carrots and onions. We are hiring seasonal General Farm Labourers to support planting, crop care, and harvest. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy physical outdoor work, can handle varying weather conditions, and want reliable full-time hours on a modern Canadian farm. You will work with both hand tools and machinery, helping ensure high-quality vegetables reach the market. Training is provided, making this a strong opportunity for newcomers to Canadian agriculture as well as experienced farm workers.

Work Site Environment

  • Other vegetables and melon farming (except potato), with focus on carrots and onions
  • Outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, wind)
  • Confined spaces, in/on water, at heights in some tasks
  • Wet/damp, dusty, noisy, and exposure to farm odours
  • Cold/refrigerated environments for some storage and handling tasks

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Apply the technique of hoeing between crop rows to control weeds
  • Clear fields of wood, stones, and other obstacles before and after planting
  • Hand-harvest vegetables efficiently and carefully to avoid damage
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops according to supervisor instructions
  • Perform weeding using hand tools and manual methods
  • Harvest crops and move produce to designated collection or grading areas
  • Divide freshly harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots
  • Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades based on size, shape, colour, and volume to meet market and customer standards
  • Examine products for quality and readiness for market shipment
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment safely after receiving training (e.g., seeders, tractors)
  • Use hand tools and basic equipment for planting, tillage, and crop maintenance
  • Clean work areas, machinery surroundings, and field edges to maintain safe, orderly conditions
