Job Overview
Bright Heart Haus is seeking a caring, patient, and responsible Home Child Care Provider to offer full-time in-home care for their children in Stoney Creek, Ontario. You will supervise and care for the children, support routines such as feeding, naps, play, and toilet training, and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and organized home environment.   • In-person care only; all work is performed in the family home and on outings with the children

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Change diapers and manage diapering routines according to the parents’ preferences and hygiene standards
  • Follow parents’ lead with toilet training, encouraging and supporting children’s progress in a patient and positive manner
  • Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas safely and accurately, following specific instructions from the parents
  • Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children, adapting to their ages and individual needs
  • Prepare infants and children for rest periods, establish and maintain calm nap and bedtime routines
  • Supervise and care for children at all times during working hours, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Tend to the emotional well-being of children by offering comfort, reassurance, and positive guidance
  • Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents, maintaining consistency with family rules and values
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene (handwashing, brushing teeth, toileting) and social development (sharing, manners, using kind words)
  • Organize and lead age-appropriate activities such as games, crafts, reading, outdoor play, and outings to parks or community activities
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children; cook simple family meals as requested by the parents
  • Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding the children (meals, naps, mood/behaviour, any concerns) and share updates with parents
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home, including childproofing awareness and close supervision
  • Assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of parents within the agreed scope of duties (children’s routines, meals, basic tidiness)
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the children (tidying play areas, washing children’s dishes, wiping surfaces, organizing toys)
  • Wash, iron, and press children’s clothing and household linens as needed
  • Shop for food and household supplies as requested, following lists and simple budgets
  • Travel with the family on trips and assist with child supervision and light housekeeping duties while away from home
