Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: 1 to less than 7 months (additional experience an asset)

Responsibilities

• Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to childcare
• Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
• Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
• Supervise and care for children at all times
• Take children to and from school and to appointments
• Tend to emotional well-being of children
• Prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children
• Organize age-appropriate educational activities, games, and crafts
• Assist with homework and school projects
• Establish and maintain consistent daily routines
• Encourage positive behaviour and social skills development
• Read stories and engage children in creative play
• Ensure children’s safety during indoor and outdoor activities
• Bathe, dress, and groom children as appropriate
• Administer medications as directed by parents
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding children’s progress and needs
• Prepare children for rest periods and nap times
• Accompany children on outings and recreational activities

Credentials (Preferred)

• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Early Childhood Education certificate (an asset)
• Valid driver’s license (an asset)
• Clean driving record

Security and Safety Requirements

• Criminal record check required
• References required
• Vulnerable sector check may be required
• Valid work authorization for Canada
