Job Overview
MJ FAMILY in Richmond Hill is seeking a caring, dependable Home-Care Worker to provide dedicated support to an elderly female client with physical disabilities in a private home. You will deliver hands-on personal care, assist with daily living activities, support gentle exercise (including pool-based assistance), and help maintain a safe, comfortable, and dignified home environment. This role is ideal for an experienced caregiver who prefers one-on-one care, wants stable full-time hours, and is looking for a long-term position with the option to live in. Gasoline costs are paid when using your vehicle for client-related transportation, and LMIA sponsorship is available for international candidates.

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

Personal Care and Health Support

  • Administer bedside and personal care according to the care plan and family/health professional directions
  • Assist clients with bathing, showering, grooming, dressing, and other aspects of personal hygiene while maintaining dignity and privacy
  • Administer medications as directed by the family or health care providers, following written instructions and documenting as required
  • Change non-sterile dressings under appropriate guidance
  • Assist in collecting specimens (e.g., urine, stool) following proper procedures and hygiene standards
  • Provide personal care related to toileting, continence support, and in-bed positioning for comfort and safety

Mobility, Exercise, and Pool Assistance

  • Assist clients with regular exercise, such as supervised walks and gentle stretches, as recommended by health professionals
  • Assist clients safely in water (e.g., pool), following all safety precautions and family instructions
  • Transport or support clients using mobility aids such as walkers, canes, or wheelchairs as needed

Household and Daily Living Support

  • Launder clothing and household linens; fold, organize, and store them appropriately
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties, including tidying living areas, washing dishes, wiping surfaces, and keeping the environment safe and orderly
  • Shop for food and household supplies as required, following shopping lists and budget guidelines

Nutrition and Meal Preparation

  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks that align with the client’s dietary needs and preferences
  • Cook simple to moderately complex meals, ensuring proper food handling and kitchen cleanliness
  • Encourage safe, comfortable eating and hydration habits

Companionship and Emotional Support

  • Provide companionship through conversation, reading, games, or shared activities
  • Offer emotional support and reassurance, promoting a sense of comfort, dignity, and independence
  • Observe and report any changes in mood, behaviour, or cognitive status to the family or designated contact

  • Physically active role that may involve assisting with transfers, mobility, and pool entry/exit
  • Repetitive tasks related to personal care, meal preparation, and light cleaning
  • Need for sustained attention to detail when following care plans, medication schedules, and safety procedures
