Job Overview
A caring family in Windsor, Ontario is looking for a responsible, patient, and organized Child Caregiver to provide full-time care for their children in the family home. You will support the children’s daily routines, safety, development, and emotional well-being while helping the parents manage household tasks. As the trusted caregiver, you will be expected to assume full responsibility for the household when the parents are away and may occasionally travel with the family. Optional live‑in accommodation with room and board is available at no charge, making this an excellent opportunity for both local and international candidates seeking a long-term childcare role in Canada.

Languages: English

Education

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or
  • Equivalent education and/or experience

Experience

  • 7 months to less than 1 year of recent, hands-on childcare experience (e.g., nanny, babysitter, daycare assistant, teacher’s aide, or similar)
  • Experience caring for multiple children is an asset

Work Site Environment

  • Non-smoking home

Work Setting

  • Employer’s private home in Windsor, ON
  • Work in employer’s/client’s home
  • Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live‑in basis
  • Staff accommodation available and provided; room and board included for live‑in arrangement (details to be discussed with family)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Supervise and care for children at all times while on duty, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of parents, following established routines and house rules
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the children and shared areas (e.g., tidying playrooms, washing dishes used for children’s meals, wiping surfaces, keeping children’s bedrooms organized)
  • Wash, iron, and press clothing and household linens, with a focus on children’s clothes and bedding
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for the children, considering any dietary needs and family preferences
  • Cook simple, healthy family meals as requested by the parents
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene and self-care (e.g., handwashing, brushing teeth, dressing appropriately)
  • Support children’s social development by encouraging good manners, sharing, cooperation, and respectful communication
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home by monitoring children’s activities, identifying hazards, and ensuring safe play
  • Organize and lead age-appropriate activities such as games, reading, crafts, outdoor play, and outings to parks or local attractions
  • Tend to the emotional well-being of children by offering comfort, encouragement, and positive guidance, especially during transitions or conflicts
  • Discipline children according to the methods and expectations requested by the parents, using calm and consistent approaches
  • Travel with the family on trips when required, assisting with child supervision and light housekeeping/meal-related duties while away from home
  • Keep simple records of daily activities, routines, and any notable events or concerns to share with parents (e.g., meals, naps, moods, incidents)
  • Communicate regularly with parents about the children’s progress, behaviours, challenges, and any changes observed
