Job Overview
Michael DiBratto is seeking a compassionate and dependable Home Support Worker to provide personal care and daily living support for an elderly client in a private home setting. This role is best suited for a trained Personal Support Worker who values dignity, privacy, and respectful communication while delivering consistent care. You will assist with personal hygiene, mobility and light exercise, medication support, meal preparation, companionship, and light household tasks to help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable living environment. If you are patient, attentive, and confident providing hands-on care, this is a meaningful opportunity to build a stable caregiving role in North York.

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Credentials

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate required
• Current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain)

Experience

• 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in home care, personal support, or elderly care

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Administer bedside and personal care in a respectful, client-centered manner
• Provide personal care and assist with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene
• Administer medications as directed and according to established routines
• Assist with regular exercise such as walking, within the client’s ability and comfort level
• Provide companionship, emotional support, and friendly conversation to reduce isolation
• Prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals aligned with preferences and any dietary needs provided by the employer
• Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties to maintain a safe and tidy home environment
• Launder clothing and household linens; fold and store items appropriately
• Monitor the client’s general condition and report concerns or changes to the employer promptly
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times and follow household routines and care instructions

Security and Safety

• Reference required
• Ability to follow safe lifting and transfer practices and maintain a safe home environment

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Bending, crouching, and kneeling as part of care routines
• Sitting, standing for extended periods, and walking
• Handling heavy loads and assisting with mobility/positioning as required
• Weight handling between 45 and 60 kg (100–132 lbs) as part of client support duties
