Job Overview
DRIESSEN DAIRY is hiring a Dairy Farm Workers Foreman/Woman to supervise daily dairy operations in Abbotsford, British Columbia. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced dairy professional who can coordinate farm staff, maintain strong animal welfare standards, and ensure milking, calving, health monitoring, and breeding programs run safely and efficiently. You will lead general farm workers, monitor animal health and calving, oversee milking routines for quality and hygiene, support breeding activities (including artificial insemination where required), and help ensure bio-security and safety procedures are followed every day. If you are organized, reliable, and confident leading a team in a demanding livestock environment, this is an excellent opportunity for stable, permanent full-time work with staff accommodation available.

Languages: English

Education

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 2 years to less than 3 years of relevant dairy farm experience, including leadership or lead-hand responsibilities

Work Site Environment

  • Dairy livestock environment
  • Outdoors and indoor barn settings
  • Dusty, hot, noisy conditions with strong odours
  • Dangerous work environment requiring strict adherence to safety practices around animals and equipment

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and other labourers, ensuring daily priorities are completed on schedule
  • Supervise milking operations to ensure work is done correctly, hygienically, and consistently to quality standards
  • Monitor the calving process and support calving management, including preparing areas and responding to issues promptly
  • Monitor animal health daily; identify concerns early and coordinate appropriate action according to farm protocols
  • Conduct artificial insemination and support breeding programs; oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs
  • Perform spraying or shearing of livestock as required and ensure animal handling is humane and safe
  • Disinfect pens, barns, and other livestock areas to maintain sanitation and reduce disease risk
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas to maintain a safe, organized farm environment
  • Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed by all staff, including hygiene routines and controlled movement between animal areas
  • Maintain clear communication with management regarding herd status, staffing needs, workflow, and operational issues
  • Perform general farm duties as required, especially during peak workload periods and emergencies
  • Support training and coaching of new workers to improve consistency, animal welfare, and productivity
