Amazon Payments is seeking a skilled and motivated Software Development Engineer II to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will contribute to building scalable, innovative payment solutions that support Amazon’s global operations. You will work with cutting-edge technologies, drive system architecture, and implement robust engineering solutions to enhance Amazon’s payment ecosystem.

About Amazon Payments
The Amazon Payments team is responsible for designing and maintaining the platform and applications that introduce new and innovative payment methods to customers worldwide. This includes supporting Amazon’s CoBrand and Private Label credit cards, Shop with Points rewards, and Foreign Exchange (FX) platforms that enable transactions in multiple currencies. Our work spans large-scale distributed systems, machine learning, big data, and user-friendly customer interfaces. We are a fast-moving, agile team dedicated to delivering high-impact solutions while fostering a collaborative and inventive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain scalable, high-performance software solutions for Amazon Payments.
  • Design and implement distributed system architecture, ensuring reliability, security, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate payment technologies into Amazon’s ecosystem.
  • Drive innovation by leveraging machine learning, big data analytics, and advanced engineering practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and uphold software development best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues to ensure seamless customer experiences.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship experience in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming in at least one software language such as Java, Python, C++, or Kotlin.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and deployment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
