Job Overview
Subsurface Geotech Inc. is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Technician to support civil and geotechnical projects through a mix of field investigations and technical office work. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who is comfortable working outdoors on active project sites and can also produce accurate drawings, specifications, and cost/material estimates. You will participate in field surveys, inspections, and technical investigations, assist with engineering specifications and drawings, and help ensure construction materials and site work meet project requirements. Languages: English

Education

College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years (civil engineering technology, construction engineering technology, or related program preferred)

Experience

1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience in civil engineering technology, construction inspection, materials testing, surveying support, or similar roles

Work Setting

Field and office-based work depending on project phase
Outdoor site conditions during inspections and investigations
Flexible hours may include early starts or extended days during field assignments

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

Assist in developing engineering specifications and drawings to support project delivery
Prepare engineering designs and drawings, ensuring accuracy and consistency with field data and project requirements
Prepare construction specifications, costs, and material estimates to support planning and budgeting
Participate in field surveys, inspections, or technical investigations to gather accurate site information
Supervise or conduct field surveys, inspections, technical investigations, and testing of construction materials as assigned
Record observations and results clearly and support preparation of technical notes and documentation
Coordinate with engineers, project leads, and field staff to ensure information is complete and delivered on time
Follow safety procedures and site requirements and maintain professional conduct on client sites
