Job Overview
The Chai Bar Inc is looking for a motivated, organized, and customer-focused Store Manager to lead daily operations at our retail location in Calgary. As Store Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales, managing staff, ensuring outstanding customer service, and maintaining high standards of presentation and efficiency. You will oversee everything from staffing and inventory to marketing initiatives and performance reviews, playing a key role in the store’s success and growth. Work Setting

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Direct and control daily store operations, ensuring smooth, efficient functioning throughout all shifts
  • Evaluate day-to-day operations and implement improvements to enhance customer service, sales, and efficiency
  • Plan and organize daily operations, including staff assignments, opening/closing procedures, and task prioritization
  • Manage staff and assign duties to ensure excellent customer service, cleanliness, and adherence to standards
  • Determine merchandise and services to be sold, based on customer demand, sales performance, and company guidelines
  • Develop and implement store-level marketing and promotional strategies to increase foot traffic, sales, and brand awareness
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard staff and/or volunteers, ensuring strong fit with store culture and service expectations
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and feedback, and support staff development and retention
  • Supervise office and volunteer staff, ensuring administrative and support tasks are completed accurately and on time
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate the activities of sales operations within the store, aligning them with broader company goals
  • Monitor inventory levels; organize and maintain stock, place orders, manage deliveries, and minimize shrink and waste
  • Oversee visual merchandising, product displays, and store layout to ensure an attractive, on-brand presentation
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the store
  • Handle customer escalations, resolve complaints, and ensure positive outcomes that support loyalty and repeat business
  • Monitor and analyze sales data, daily reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs); make informed decisions to improve results
  • Assist with cash management, including daily cash reconciliation, bank deposits, and adherence to cash-handling procedures
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and applicable local/provincial requirements
  • Liaise with senior management to report on store performance, staffing needs, and operational issues
  • Lead by example on the sales floor, modeling excellent customer service and teamwork

Supervision

  • 1 to 2 people
  • 3 to 4 people
    (Depending on shift and staffing levels; responsible for overall supervision of store team)

  • Previous experience as an assistant manager, shift supervisor, or store manager
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems, basic reporting, and inventory software
  • Basic understanding of marketing, social media, or local store promotions
