Job Overview
A caring family in Woodbridge, Ontario is looking for a responsible and nurturing Home Child Care Provider to support the daily care, development, and well-being of their children in the family home. You will help with routines, meals, hygiene, playtime, and outings, while keeping the environment clean, safe, and organized. This role is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys working with infants and young children, is patient and organized, and wants a stable, full-time position that can grow into a long-term childcare career in Canada.

Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or
- Equivalent education and/or experience in childcare
Experience
- 1 year to less than 2 years of recent, hands-on experience caring for children (e.g., nanny, babysitter, daycare assistant, teacher’s aide, or similar)
- Experience caring for infants and younger children is a strong asset
Work Setting
- Employer’s private home in Woodbridge, ON
- In-home childcare environment with day-to-day interaction with parents
- You must be comfortable working in a family setting and following household routines and rules
Key Responsibilities (Tasks)
- Supervise and care for children at all times while on duty, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children, taking into account their age and developmental needs
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks in line with parents’ preferences and any dietary requirements
- Organize and lead age-appropriate activities, such as games, crafts, reading, educational play, and outdoor outings (e.g., walks to the park)
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home by monitoring children’s activities and removing or minimizing hazards
- Tend to the emotional well-being of children, offering comfort, encouragement, and positive guidance
- Help children develop positive social skills, including sharing, good manners, and respectful communication
- Instruct children in personal hygiene and healthy daily habits (e.g., handwashing, brushing teeth, dressing appropriately), as requested by the parents
- Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding the children (e.g., meals, naps, activities, any incidents or changes in behaviour)
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the children, such as tidying play areas, washing dishes used for meals, and keeping children’s rooms organized
- Assist with children’s laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothing and linens as needed
- Follow the parents’ instructions on discipline, routines, screen time, and activity choices, respecting family values and cultural practices
- Communicate regularly with parents about the children’s routines, progress, behaviour, and any concerns or observations
Security and Safety
- Bondable (must be able to obtain bonding if required)
- Criminal record check required or willingness to obtain prior to employment
- Vulnerable sector check and childcare-related references are considered strong assets
- Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and respecting family privacy
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Active role requiring a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and playing with children throughout the day
- Frequent bending, lifting, and carrying infants, young children, and items such as bags, toys, and strollers
- Ability to lift and carry children safely, as appropriate to their age and size
- Periods of sustained attention and engagement while supervising children and activities
- Occasional emotionally demanding situations that require patience and calm responses

- Strong client focus, with genuine care for children’s well-being and respect for parents’ expectations
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules, routines, and children’s developmental stages
- Good judgment in responding to children’s needs, safety issues, and unexpected situations
- Highly organized, able to manage routines, activities, and light housekeeping in a busy household
- Reliability and punctuality, with consistent attendance and commitment to agreed working hours
- Strong time management skills to balance childcare duties and related household tasks
- Patience and a calm, nurturing temperament, especially during challenging behaviours or busy times
- Honesty and integrity, with respect for family rules, cultural values, and privacy
- Initiative in planning engaging activities and noticing what needs to be done without constant supervision
- Clear communication skills with both children and parents
Additional Assets (Not Required but Preferred)
- CPR and First Aid certification for infants and children
- Previous experience as a live-in or live-out nanny or home childcare provider
- Any formal childcare training or short courses (e.g., early childhood assistant, caregiver programs)
