MG Caregiver is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Home Support Worker to provide essential care and support to clients in their homes. The ideal candidate will assist with daily living activities, personal hygiene, and household tasks while ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Administer bedside and personal care
- Assist clients with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene
- Launder clothing and household linens
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Assist with mobility and physical activities
- Prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs
- Monitor and report changes in clients’ conditions
Requirements:
- Languages: English
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
Work Setting:
- Work in employer’s/client’s home
Personal Suitability:
- Strong communication skills
- Empathy and patience when assisting clients
- Attention to detail for maintaining cleanliness and client safety
- Physical stamina to perform daily tasks
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Reliability and trustworthiness
Work Environment:
- Residential settings – working in private homes, nursing homes, or community care settings
- Physically demanding – assisting clients with movement and personal care
- Emotionally rewarding but challenging – supporting clients with different needs
- Flexible work schedules – day, evening, and weekend shifts may be required
- One-on-one care – building close relationships with clients
Skills & Knowledge Needed:
- Knowledge of personal care techniques – assisting with bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Household management skills – cooking, cleaning, and organizing
- First Aid and CPR training – handling emergencies effectively
- Understanding of client needs – including elderly care, disability care, and chronic illness support
- Time management skills – balancing multiple responsibilities
Education & Certification Requirements:
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred)
- Additional training in elderly care or disability support is an asset
