Job Title: Mental Health Therapist
Location: Ranch Edmonton, Alberta
Shift: Morning, Night, Overnight
Wage: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year

Oak Hill Ranch* is an accredited campus-based treatment facility with a designation in Intensive Treatment. We offer services to youth between the ages of 9-16 years of age who present various behavioral and emotional challenges.

With the support of Children and Family services, family and other healthy support networks, we strive to create a therapeutic environment that assists in the young person’s growth and development.

Oak Hill Ranch is located ½ mile south of the town of Bon Accord (20 min. N of Edmonton).

Schedule* : Primarily your schedule is Monday to Friday, both day shifts and early evenings with the potential of the occasional weekend commitment.

This position is a full-time permanent position with a salary range of $75,000.00-$83,000.00 per year

Key Responsibilities* : *NOTE * This is not a comprehensive list of the job description, but an overall understanding of the position of Clinical Case Worker.

  • Provide high-quality trauma-informed mental health therapy to children, teens and families who experience significant mental health difficulties.
  • Use a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities to facilitate individual, group and family therapy.
  • Provide crisis intervention, assessment, referral, and treatment to meet the needs of children and families.
  • Strong case management functions, including arranging and leading case conferences and liaising with other professionals and community supports involved with the child.
  • Ability to consult with external partners such as case workers, physicians, and educational supports.
  • Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding around best trauma-informed practices.
  • Collaborate and consult with Clinical Director, Clinical Team members, Program Directors, and Care Staff.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child development, children mental health issues, trauma sensitive interventions, and human ecology.
  • Recognizes and respects cultural diversity issues. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments and provide treatment planning for youth with complex mental health and behavioral issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member within an interdisciplinary setting.
  • Strong clinical report writing skills.
  • Ability to work proactively, effectively, and independently in a complex, ever evolving environment.

Qualifications and Professional Experience* :

  • Masters Level Clinician registered with a clinical designation. (Preference for a Registered Clinical Social Worker or Certified Canadian Counselor (CCC).
  • Five (5) years recent direct experience working with youth with a variety of mental health concerns, trauma, addictions, etc.
  • Direct experience with individual, group and family counselling.
  • Experience working with families, children and youth from diverse backgrounds and cultural origins.
  • Strong therapy skills & Interviewing Skills (Capacity to deliver a range of therapies).
  • Knowledge of Play Therapy and expressive therapy is an asset.
  • Police Security Clearance, Intervention Record Check and a clean driver’s abstract are conditions of employment and the financial responsibility of the candidate.
