Job Overview
A. K. Nursery Ltd. is hiring Nursery Labourers to support outdoor plant production and nursery operations in Surrey, British Columbia. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work with trees and plants, can follow instructions carefully, and takes pride in healthy plant growth and clean, organized work areas. You will support propagation tasks such as budding and grafting, assist with pruning, planting, transplanting, potting, watering, and weed control, and help apply fertilizers and plant protection products as directed. Experience is an asset, but motivated candidates with a strong work ethic and reliability are encouraged to apply. LMIA sponsorship is available for eligible international candidates.

Experience

• Experience is an asset (nursery, greenhouse, landscaping, farm labour, or similar)
• On-the-job training may be provided for nursery methods and safety practices

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Budding trees and assisting in grafting activities as assigned
• Weed control and general crop maintenance throughout nursery areas
• Assist in pruning trees, shrubs, and plants following direction and quality standards
• Mix and prepare soils and growing media for planting and potting
• Plant bulbs and seeds according to production schedules and procedures
• Pot and re-pot plants and ensure careful handling to avoid root damage
• Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings with attention to plant health and spacing requirements
• Apply fertilizers as directed and follow safe handling and application procedures
• Spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides as directed, following safety procedures and instructions
• Report signs of insect or disease damage promptly to supervisors
• Dig up and wrap rootballs of trees and shrubs for moving, staging, or sale
• Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens and monitor basic plant condition daily
• Clean work area and maintain tidy, safe, organized nursery spaces and tools

• Repetitive tasks requiring steady pace and consistent technique
• Physically demanding work in outdoor conditions
• Frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling
• Ability to work safely around tools, soil, fertilizers, and plant protection products

Additional Assets (Preferred)

• Experience with propagation techniques (budding/grafting) (asset)
