Job Overview
Mersea Road Eleven Farm is hiring Farm Workers (Fruit) to support hands-on crop production and harvest operations in Staples, Ontario. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for dependable workers who enjoy active outdoor/greenhouse work and take pride in producing clean, market-ready crops. You will assist with cutting and harvesting, grading produce to quality standards, tying and securing plants, removing suckers and water sprouts, and maintaining a clean and efficient work area. Experience is an asset, but we welcome motivated applicants who are ready to learn, follow instructions, and work safely in a fast-paced farm environment.

Experience: Experience is an asset (training provided for the right candidate)

Work Site Environment

• Fruit and vegetable combination farming
• Hot conditions during portions of the season and in greenhouse environments
• Work at heights at times (platforms/ladders may be used for crop care and harvesting as required)

Key Responsibilities (Tasks)

• Cut agricultural crops according to farm instructions and quality standards
• Hand harvest vegetables and fruit carefully to reduce bruising and maintain freshness
• Harvest crops efficiently while meeting daily production targets and handling standards
• Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades based on size, shape, colour, and volume to meet market requirements
• Tie and secure plants using approved methods to support growth, reduce breakage, and improve yield
• Remove manually all suckers and water sprouts to maintain plant health, airflow, and productivity
• Perform greenhouse cleaning and general sanitation tasks to support crop health and workplace safety
• Clean work areas, tools, and stations regularly to maintain an organized, efficient workflow
• Follow farm safety procedures and report hazards, plant damage, or quality concerns to supervisors promptly

Transportation/Travel Information

• Own transportation required (public transportation may be limited in the area)

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

• Fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks during peak harvest windows
• Physically demanding work requiring stamina and consistent productivity
• Standing for extended periods and frequent walking
• Regular bending, crouching, and kneeling while harvesting and performing crop care
• Handling heavy loads, including crates and supplies
• Weight handling up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
